Site Updates

Shoutbox (Apr 16 '10)
Posted my write up on the memorial service for fellow LGBT & AIDS activist Vince Croome.

Shoutbox (Apr 12 '10)
Whew!  Final Tokyo trip installment now done!  My random Tokyo stories which made some people laugh so hard that they were crying.  And I could only laugh AFTER it was all over.  As usual:  raw from my brain with stealth editing when I reread the page in a couple of days.

Shoutbox (Apr 3 '10)
Part two of my Tokyo saga is now up, raw from my brain.  Stealth grammar tweaking over the next couple of days but posted for those who don't care or want to wait!

Shoutbox (Mar 30 '10)
Okay, so I didn't post an update to "Furia" as I had hoped but I had a good reason for being out of the country recently (Tokyo), and things were a little crazy before I actually got my butt on a plane.
Primary focus it to write up and post my trip tales so I can move back to the world of fiction and column writing
Part one of my recent Tokyo trip:  Seeing the former Takarazuka super Top Star-couple Yoka Wao and Mari Hanafusa in "Dietrich"

Shoutbox (Mar 15 '10)
Review of the movie "Alice In Wonderland".
Pending:  "Furia" pages coming later today!

Shoutbox (Mar 13 '10)
So I finally did my Vegas weekend brain dump, which you can find in the Crossing Paths section.
Now onto some fiction since I have some characters who are not liking being ignored.
Also added (over to the right) my list of upcoming key events just so that I can remind myself that I have something to look forward to.  Plus, knowing what event reviews I will post shortly thereafter.

Shoutbox (Mar 9 '10)
Thanks to no internet connectivity for a night,  the site redesign is now complete!  Whew!!!  (Fingers crossed that I found and fixed all links and pages.)  With the frames layout gone, updating the site should be easier and quicker.
This also marks the completion of the launch of the site and now I can focus on writing.... Yes, I know there are some placeholder links, but they'll have content when the time is right.
Next for me:  a brain dump of some brief encounters from my Vegas trip this weekend.
And believe it or not, I really am working on the next few pages of The Sequel.

A Couple More Reviews (Mar 8 '10)
Just got back from a Vegas weekend that included checking out the Australian vocal band Human Nature in concert.
Also did an anime/manga review of "He Is My Master" in order to pass the time at the airport.

New Section #2:  Vicarious Tales (Mar 1 '10)
The key stories from some trips and events I've attended.  First one is from the Margaret Cho show and music video shoot on Feb 21, '10.
Yes, I'm also redesigning this site.  Construction going on.  Please excuse the mess.

New Section:  Crossing Paths (Feb 28, '10)
Probably the closest I'll ever have to an actual blog.  Just brief encounters with people of various sorts.
(And I'm about two-thirds of the way through my write up of the Margaret Cho event.)

Furia: "Two Way Mirror" (Feb 25, '10)
Having to work for a living really sucks.  Just thought I'd make that very clear if you didn't already know that.
And plus, unexpectedly going to a Margaret Cho event on Saturday put my mental wheels in a weird spin, but in a good way.
I did the column but it didn't turn out as well as I like.  So I let my brain instead dabble in the fiction world with a very short chapter as I'm still slowly building up the story.  Expect something else by the weekend as I try to get my writing discipline back, and that does include a few words on the above mentioned event.

Quick Status (Feb 17, '10)
Heading up to the Bay Area for business/fun and won't be back until Saturday nightish.  When I'm back, I should be ready to post a new column (about my crush on my female kindergarten teacher) and a new installment for Furia: Two-way Mirror.  See ya then!

Anime Reviews:  Godannar & Rin - Daughters of Mnemosyne (Feb 12, '10)
Okay, so I didn't quite make the 11th but I came close (missing by about 25 minutes.)
I realized I need to lock down a writing schedule so I'm thinking I'll target a review of some sort once a week.  We'll see how far that'll go.
Now I'm going to think for a bit and then decide if a column or fiction is next on my mental plate.

Anime Review:  Blue Drop (Feb 11, '10)
Now stir-crazy from too many days of non-productivity.  Posted this one and actually had a lot more to say about it than I had originally thought.  And remember, my Lesbo Analysis always has spoilers.  (Otherwise, what could I analyze?)
Expect reviews for "Godannar" and "Rin:  Daughters of Mnemosyne" later today.  (I swear!)

Temporary MIA Status (Feb 8, '10)
Just a short note that I haven't been able to write anything due to pulling my neck muscle last week.  So I am currently on a combo of meds as I'm waaaiting for everything to heal -- I can't even sit down and type too much before wincing.  (Grrrrr.)
I seem to be over the worse of it so I should be able to start posting reviews in a few days.

Fanfic:  BGC Post 2040 Series (Feb 2, '10)
Finally incorporated the "novels" into this site instead of linking to Fanfiction.net.  No new stories, just better intro page with links to all supporting material that I've written for the series.

Lesbo Ero:  "The Sequel" (Jan 31, '10)
First two pages of the story.   See comments below on posting frequency.

Furia:  "Two-Way Mirror" (Jan 28, '10)
Put the first few pages of this story.  No idea how often I can update it; I'm targeting for twice a month to start.  But I'm planning to post three or four pages at a time.

Anime Review:  "Maria Watches Over Us" (Jan 23, '10)
Finally put together my thoughts on the anime series that shouldn't be too surprising for those who know what it's about.
Now gonna go write me some fiction!  (Having withdrawals!)

Active Voice Column:  "Judging A (Hot Pink) Book By Its Cover" (Jan 23, '10)
How I accidentally designed the cover of my lesbo ero novella to be enticing for the completely wrong target audience.

"Sherlock Holmes" Review (Jan 17, '10)
Just saw this movie in the theatres with its updated version of the detective universe with, um, domestic elements between the detective and the doctor.

"It's Complicated" Review (Jan 14, '10)
Posted some thoughts about the latest Meryl Streep/Alec Baldwin/Steve Martin romantic comedy: here.

All Old Reviews From Original "This Lesbian's Guide to Anime & Manga" Posted!  (Jan 14, '10)
Whew!  Talk about going down memory lane:  here
And I also added the special in depth analysis pages that I had written for Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040's Priss and Linna!
Now I need my own mental break by working on something else.  However, expect reviews for MariMite, Blue Drop and Godannar by the end of the month!

More Old Reviews Posted From Original "This Lesbian's Guide to Anime & Manga" (Jan 12, '10)
I'm now about two-thirds through my backlog:  here.  I'm hoping to get all content done by tomorrow.
And yes, I've taken the liberty of putting placeholder titles that I'm planning to review in the list, mainly to let everyone know I'm aware of the product but I just haven't gotten around to doing my write-up on it.  (Please note that not all pending titles are going to get positive remarks from me!)

"An Oak Tree" Review (Jan 10, '10)
I saw this play Friday night and since it's running until Feb. 14, I felt I should post a mini-review on it.
Also, there are some amusing YouTube vids from the Playwright's 10 year son in drag.

"This Lesbian's Guide to Anime & Manga" Coming Back! (Jan 9, '10)
I've polished off some of my original reference files and posted them to show you that it's not a hallucination: here.
Next, polishing off my old reviews and posting some new ones ("Mari Mite" is number one on the new list.)
... Oh, and got some feedback that I do need to create a mailing list.  But that will be last.  At this point, I'm committed to posting something at least every three days.

"Furia" Introduction (Jan 8, '10)
Opened this new section of the website that will house my ongoing cyberpunk fiction stories.
Posted the short story "The Good Child", which focuses on the background of Yoshiko the Yakuza.  This story was originally posted in Aug. 2003.
Posted excerpt that is the sneak peek of major story that will focus on Casey (Kassandra), "Two Way Mirror".

General Reviews (Jan 4, '10)
Posted some quick thoughts on the following:  Nine (Movie - 2009)

Just Moved In!  (January 3, 2010)
And with any moving process, the furniture comes first and the decorations later.
Posted new Active Voice column called Fashion Check Challenge which is a little tidbit from my trip to see Hangry and Angry in Paris.  But I feel it's appropriate to launch this site with that piece for many reasons.
A lot of stuff still on my Live Journal site, which I will continue to use for notifications to folks who want to know when I post something:  http://pkristen.livejournal.com/.  I will be eventually moving all critical content over to this site.
