"Burlesque" (2010, US Movie)

Summary: Country hick Ali moves to Hollywood to make her big break and finds employment in a burlesque club, and everything starts to fall into place.

Review: It seems perfect: feature Cher and Christina Aguilera in a movie where they can share screen time and sing. Surround them with an ambiance of Pussy Cat Dolls a la Fosse. And sprinkle gay male-ness everywhere.

With so many "sure fire" elements, it ultimately proves to be what it is: unoriginal. And I'm shocked that something sooo gay could be sooo cliche.

If they had actual lesbianism, it would might have cracked the mold a bit.

Admittedly though, when I want to have something play in the background without any mention investment, it is one of the movies I reach for. Maybe that's it ultimate appeal.
